Tarkington and Harvard School of Excellence abide within the AUSL network. Both schools have a strong desire to educate and give their students the best in academics, social skills, and real world experiences. Despite the fact that the schools are separated by a total of four miles, and their surroundings are polar opposites, the students in both communitites have an enduring spirit and a strong love for learning. During one of my classes, in the summer, we as residents were assigned the task of walking the community, exploring our future surroundings, and connecting to neighborhoods, if possible.
Above, you will find a presentation of the work and information collected by my fellow Tarkington residents and me. Sadly, I was unable to conduct a community walk for the Englewood community surrounding Harvard. However, I will conduct one close to the time that the students are to return to the classroom. Also, I plan on conducting home visits after school starts in order to be a frequent face in the area and connect with my students' families.
